Media release from Floyd County, GA Schools:
Floyd County Schools (FCS) and Armuchee Elementary School (AES) are pleased to announce the appointment of Haley Daugherty as Assistant Principal, effective for the 2026–27 school year.
“We are excited to announce Ms. Haley Daugherty as the new Assistant Principal of AES,” said Dr. Glenn White, FCS Superintendent. “She has done an outstanding job since beginning her journey at AES and will continue to be a valuable asset to the Tribe.”
Daugherty brings over 14 years of experience, with 10 years at West End Elementary in Rome City Schools and the last four at Armuchee Elementary. Since 2012, Daugherty has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles. She currently serves as a reading interventionist at AES, where she has made a major impact on the lives of her students and colleagues.
Her professional experience includes serving as an elementary teacher, where she has advanced to reading interventionist at Armuchee Elementary. Throughout her career, Daugherty has demonstrated a strong passion for education, a commitment to student achievement, a focus on school culture, and a commitment to community engagement.
During her time at AES, Daugherty has served as Armuchee Elementary’s Northwest Georgia RESA representative, participating in the Capturing Kids’ Hearts Flagship Training, and leading the Check-in Check-out (CICO) PBIS program. She has also contributed to school leadership through her work on the Local School Governance Team, as well as several other leadership roles and committees.
“Since Ms. Daugherty has joined the Armuchee community, she has served as an integral part of the growth at AES,” said AES principal Michael Branson. “Originally, as a fourth-grade ELA teacher, she consistently demonstrated strengths in her content knowledge and pedagogy. Her instructional expertise, alongside serving as a grade-level lead, led her to a promotion as an ELA interventionist in 2024. Over the last year and a half, Ms. Daugherty has played an important role in fortifying the MTSS process at AES and continued to serve as a core building leader.”
Daugherty holds an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern University, and a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern as well. Additionally, she holds a Reading Endorsement from Northwest Georgia RESA, along with certification from LETRS Science of Reading in May of 2025.
“Ms. Daugherty is constantly seeking ways to extend the vision of making learning fun at AES,” continued Branson. “She developed partnerships with multiple organizations like Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful, GYSTC, and Georgia Power to make hands-on Science a reality for our students. We believe that her efforts contributed to an overall attendance increase of 6% points and a remarkable increase in our 5th-grade Science achievement. We feel truly blessed for her to step into this new role and are excited for the days ahead.”
Daugherty will begin her new role in July, succeeding Sarah Holsomback, who accepted the principal position at Armuchee Primary earlier this year. Floyd County Schools and Armuchee Elementary are grateful and excited to welcome Haley Daugherty into this leadership role and look forward to the energy, enthusiasm, and dedication she will bring.
