Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (March 23, 2026) Filling up is getting more expensive again for Georgia drivers, as higher crude oil prices lead to another uptick at the pump. The average price for a gallon of regular has risen to $3.69, up from last week, with drivers likely to see continued day‑to‑day fluctuations.
“Drivers are continuing to see higher prices at the pump, largely due to rising crude oil costs,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “With oil prices remaining elevated, seasonal demand increasing as spring gets underway, and a more expensive summer gasoline blend coming online, gas prices are likely to stay under pressure in the near term.”
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 18 cents higher than last week
- $1.00 higher than last month
- 76 cents higher than this time last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $55.35.
Nationally: Gas Prices Edge Higher at Start of Spring
Over the past week, the national average price for regular gas rose nearly 25 cents, climbing to $3.94 a gallon. As the spring equinox brings warmer weather and more drivers onto the roads, gas prices are rising with seasonal demand. Even with the White House’s recent announcement to release 172 million barrels of oil from the nation’s reserves over four months, there’s been no immediate relief, as crude oil prices continue to climb.
Electric:
The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station remained the same this past week at 41 cents. Drivers can plan ahead by checking prices along their route with AAA’s TripTik Travel Planner.
Regional Prices:
The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Athens ($3.77), Atlanta ($3.76), and Gainesville ($3.72).
The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.56), Brunswick ($3.53), and Albany ($3.50).
