Hopefully members of the Georgia General Assembly have had a chance to catch up on sleep since the end of their 2026 session last week.
Lawmakers concluded their work at the State Capital in Atlanta in the wee hours of Friday, April 3rd, according to State Representative Katie Dempsey of Rome. She adds that the Georgia House of Representatives was able to tackle most of its priorities for the session.
Increasing literacy rates, particularly among Georgia’s youngest learners, was among the objectives of the session, attests Dempsey. The Georgia General Assembly also fulfilled its duty to pass a balanced budget.
Some legislation passed by state lawmakers now await signature by Governor Brian Kemp, says Dempsey.
