The Atlanta Braves clobbered the Cleveland Guardians by 13-1 on Sunday night in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park. That allowed Atlanta to take the series by 2-1.
Dominic Smith contributed a two-run homer during the bottom of the fourth inning. Offensive highlights also included a two-run double by Austin Riley in the Braves’ four-run eighth. Jorge Mateo went 4-for-4 and reached home plate twice.
Chris Sale was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up just one run and eight hits, walked one, and struck out six over six innings. Dylan Dodd picked up the save. Tanner Bibee took the loss for Cleveland.
The Braves will continue their current homestand tonight with the first outing of a three-game National League East series versus the Miami Marlins. First pitch is slated for 7:15 pm. Listen to play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.
Atlanta now leads the NL East with a record of 10-6, and Miami is in second place at 8-8.
