Media release from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation:
Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation is inviting the community’s teens to step back in time with Retro Rewind Skate Night, a free event designed especially for middle and high school students, set for May 29 at Etowah Park. From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., skaters ages 12 to 17 can enjoy an evening full of high-energy fun, celebrating the best of the 80s and 90s with a local DJ spinning iconic throwback tracks. Participants are encouraged to embrace the theme by wearing their best vintage outfits and neon gear, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere.
The excitement builds throughout the evening, with contests beginning at 7:00 p.m. to highlight both creativity and skating skills. While the skating area will be reserved for teens, families are welcome to attend and enjoy the event from designated areas off the pavement to help maintain a safe environment for all participants. In addition to the action on the skate surface, attendees can enjoy a variety of refreshments from on-site vendors, including King of Pops, Mahli’s Uni Popcorn, and Mountains Ice Cream, along with cold drinks and additional snacks.
Admission to Retro Rewind Skate Night is completely free, making it a perfect opportunity for teens to gather with friends, show off their style, and enjoy a unique community experience. For more information about the event, please contact Bradley Kirk at Bradley.Kirk@floydcountyga.org
