Local non-profit agencies have collaborated to observe April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. The local theme for this year has been “Partnerships and Possibilities”.
This month has given the agencies an opportunity to examine how they work together and with the community to prevent child abuse, states Jennifer Jolly, Executive Director of the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth.
The collaborative efforts by organizations like Restoration Rome, the Family Resource Center, and the Commission have led to a decline in child abuse in Rome and Floyd County over recent years, according to Jolly.
Jolly adds that these inter-agency initiatives continue throughout each year, not just during the month of April.
These agencies also teamed up to observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month throughout this month.
