The Atlanta Braves opened up a six-game homestand with a 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night in the first meeting of a three-game National League set at Truist Park.
Highlights included a home run from Austin Riley that tied the outing at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Mike Yastrzemski hit a tie-breaking, two-run homer in that inning. That was his first home run for Atlanta. He drove in three of the Braves’ five runs on the night.
Didier Fuentes was credited with the win in relief for Atlanta. Raisel Iglesias got the save. Colin Rea took the loss for Chicago.
The NL East-leading Braves improved their MLB-best record to 29-13 on the 2026 regular season, while the NL Central-leading Cubs are 27-15. They will meet again tonight at 7:15 pm in Atlanta.
