May is National Foster Care Month. Restoration Rome is pleased to make this observance, as the local non-profit serves as a hub for foster, adoption, and family services.
Mary Margaret Mauer, co-founder, states that kids need safe spaces, whether those safe spaces are with foster families or their own families.
June will be observed as National Reunification Month, a time to celebrate the reunification of kids from foster care with their parents. Mauer says that there’s currently a push to help families stay healthy so that they would not have to be separated in the first place.
Mauer encourages anyone interested in serving as a foster parent or volunteer to reach out to her organization.
