Nobody puts Baby in a corner. That is probably one of the most well-known movie lines from the 1980s. The line comes from the 1987 drama and dance film “Dirty Dancing”, which will be screened by the Rome International Film Festival and the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation on Saturday, July 18th at 7 pm at the DeSoto, 530 Broad Street in downtown Rome.
Leanne Cook, President of the HDTF Board of Directors, says that attendees will enjoy movie-themed drinks, like the “Hazy Swayze”. Tickets cost $10. All proceeds will benefit RIFF.
Find a link to purchase tickets to the screening on the event Facebook page; search for “Dirty Dancing”. Cook says that those in attendance will have the “time of their life”.
Renovations are now underway at the DeSoto, including a new proscenium, improved security, and upgraded technology. Cook muses that the “Jewel of Broad Street” is getting polished.
The historic theatre will continue to be closed every Monday through Friday for several months due to these renovations.
