Media release from Rome, GA City Schools:
Rome City Schools administrators, directors, and instructional leaders gathered Friday for the district’s Exemplary Leaders Institute, a day of professional learning focused on strengthening instructional leadership and improving student achievement ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
The institute centered on the work of the district’s Teaching, Leading and Learning Division, highlighting strategies to strengthen classroom instruction, increase literacy and math achievement, expand leadership capacity, and use data to drive decision-making. Sessions also focused on collaborative planning, instructional coaching, effective assessment, and continuous improvement as the district implements its strategic growth process.
Throughout the day, leaders reviewed district priorities and discussed how every school can contribute to Rome City Schools’ mantra, Move the Needle, by creating high-quality learning experiences for every student.
“Our Exemplary Leaders Institute is one of the most important investments we make each year because great schools begin with great leadership,” Superintendent Dr. Eric Holland said. “When we bring our leaders together to learn from one another, study best practices, and focus on high-quality instruction, we’re making sure we continue moving the needle for our students. Every conversation and every strategy shared today is about helping our teachers be even more effective in the classroom so our students can achieve at the highest levels.”
The institute is part of Rome City Schools’ ongoing commitment to professional learning and leadership development, providing administrators and district leaders with opportunities throughout the year to collaborate, refine instructional practices and support teachers in every classroom.
