AAA: Georgia Pump Prices Hit the Gas

ATLANTA (July 20, 2026) Georgia drivers are paying more at the pump this week as rising crude oil prices, fueled by ongoing geopolitical tensions, continue to push gas prices higher. AAA encourages divers to compare prices, take advantage of fuel rewards programs, and plan ahead to help manage fuel costs.

“Gas prices continue to climb across Georgia and much of the country as higher crude oil prices drive up the cost of fuel,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Geopolitical uncertainty and strong summer travel demand remain key factors in the market, and drivers may continue to see upward pressure at the pump in the weeks ahead.”

Compared to recent benchmarks:

• 20 cents higher than last week
• 9 cents higher than last month
• 87 cents higher than this time last year

For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $56.55.

National Average Rises Again, Nearing $4 per Gallon

The national average for a gallon of regular gas jumped 12 cents this week to $3.99. Concerns over instability in the Strait of Hormuz are driving crude oil prices closer to $80 per barrel and adding pressure at the pump. While most states remain below $4 a gallon, the national average is once again on the verge of crossing that threshold.

Atlanta ($3.78)

The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($3.88), Savannah ($3.86), and Macon ($3.79).

The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Albany ($3.69), Warner Robins ($3.68), and Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($3.67).
