The Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres by 3-2 on Monday night in the opener of a four-game National League set at Truist Park.
The Padres opened the scoring with a solo home run by Manny Machado in the top of the fourth inning. Michael Harris II hit a game-tying homer for the Braves in the bottom of the fifth. Joey Bart put Atlanta ahead with an RBI double in that inning. Ozzie Albies had a solo homer in the sixth. Ty France homered for the Padres in the seventh.
Bryce Elder secured the win for Atlanta after giving up just two runs and five hits, walking one, and striking out four in six innings. Victor Mederos picked up the save, his first as a major leaguer. JP Sears was tagged with the loss for San Diego.
The NL East-leading Braves improved to 58-41 on the 2026 regular season. The Padres are in third place of the NL West at 49-51. The teams will meet again tonight at 7:15 pm. Listen to play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.
