The Atlanta Braves were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night by a final score of 8-3 in the second meeting of a four-game National League set at Truist Park. That evened the series at a game each.
One highlight for the Braves was a two-run triple by Jim Jarvis in the bottom of the second inning. He went 2-for-3 and scored Atlanta’s third and final run of the night on a balk in the seventh inning.
The Padres were lifted to victory in part by the long ball. Manny Machado contributed two home runs, and Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis Jr. each homered.
Reynaldo Lopez was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five runs and nine hits, walking three, and striking out six over four and one-third innings. Walker Buehler got the win for San Diego.
The NL East-leading Braves are now 58-42 on the 2026 regular season, and the Padres remain in third place of the NL West at 50-51. Game three of their series is slated for tonight at 7:15 pm.
