Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson: Put Safety First This School Year

The 2026-2027 school year is about to begin for students in Rome and Floyd County.

Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson urges everyone to patient in traffic and in school lines. He says that law enforcement will be present to ensure a smooth start to this new school year.

Sheriff Roberson encourages kids to put safety first whether in school, on the way home, or at play.

The first day of classes is this Friday, July 31^st for Rome City Schools and Tuesday, August 4^th for Floyd County Schools. Northwest Georgia Charter Academy will begin their first-ever school year on Monday, August 3^rd. St. Mary’s School will start a new school year on Wednesday, August 5^th. Class will be in session on August 11^th for students at Unity Christian School and on August 17^th for Darlington School.
