The Atlanta Braves opened a seven-game homestand with a 5-4 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday evening in the first meeting of a four-game National League East set at Truist Park.
The Nationals took an early lead with a couple of solo home runs by Daylen Lile and a solo shot from Luis Garcia Jr. Ronald Acuna Jr. got the Braves on the board with a solo homer during the bottom of the fourth inning. Mike Yastrzemski had a two-run homer that tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth. Ozzie Albies clubbed a two-run single that put the Braves ahead in the sixth. Garcia added another run for the Nats with an RBI triple in the seventh.
Victor Mederos picked up the win in relief for Atlanta. It was the first of his career. Raisel Iglesias got the save. Jake Irvin was charged with the loss for Washington.
