Media release from the Rome Police Department:
Treveonsay Trejion Burge, 23, has been taken into custody in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Burge was wanted in connection with the October 21, 2025, shooting death of 18-year-old Adam Taylor Hernandez in Rome. He faces charges of Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault in connection with Hernandez’s death.
Burge is currently being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center in Shelby, North Carolina, where he also faces additional charges stemming from his arrest. He is being held without bond
The Rome Police Department would like to thank the investigators and law enforcement partners whose continued efforts led to Burge’s apprehension including the US Marshall’s Service, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, and the Shelby (NC) Police Department.
All charges are accusations. Burge is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
