The Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Yankees by 2-1 in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon in the last meeting of a three-game set in New York. That permitted the Braves to deny a series sweep for the Yankees.
Matt Olson got the Braves on the board with a home run during the top of the seventh inning. The Yankees tied the game at 1-1 with a home run from Trent Grisham in the bottom of the eighth. Michael Harris II had an RBI single which drove Ha-Seong Kim to home plate and gave the Braves a 2-1 lead during the top of the 10th.
Atlanta starting pitcher Grant Holmes surrendered just three hits, walked two, and struck out two in six scoreless innings. Raisel Iglesias was credited with the win in relief, and Tyler Kinley got the save. Paul Blackburn took the loss for New York, whose starter Cam Schlittler notched 11 strikeouts.
The National League East-leading Braves are now 71-47 on the 2026 regular season. They will open a six-game homestand tonight with the first of three division games versus the New York Mets.
