The Atlanta Braves blanked the Washington Nationals by 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a two-game National League East set at Nationals Park in Washington DC. That resulted in a series split. The Braves took the season series between the teams by 9-4.
Ronald Acuna Jr. became the fastest player in MLB history to attain 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases with a three-run homer during the top of the seventh inning.
Sean Murphy had a three-run shot that got the Braves on the board in the top of the sixth. He also had an RBI single in the ninth. Austin Riley contributed a two-run single in the eighth.
Elieser Hernandez got the win in relief for Atlanta. Riley Cornelio took the loss for DC.
The NL East-leading Braves improved to 83-57 on the 2026 regular season. They have a scheduled off-day today and will resume their current six-game road trip on Friday night with the first of four division games in Philadelphia versus the Phillies.
