Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (September 14, 2026) Georgia drivers are paying more at the pump as gasoline prices continue to climb following the Labor Day holiday. The state average now stands at $4.01 per gallon (subject to change overnight), which is 48 cents below Georgia’s record high of $4.49 per gallon for regular unleaded, set in June 2022.
“Georgia drivers are facing continued pain at the pump as rising crude oil prices drive fuel costs higher,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “With oil above $100 per barrel, there’s no clear indication of when gas prices may decline or how high they could go. We know these higher costs are challenging for many households, which is why drivers should look for opportunities to save whenever possible, from comparing prices to improving fuel efficiency.”
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 12 cents higher than last week
- 20 cents higher than last month
- $1.12 higher than last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $60.15.
National Gas Price Surges 17 Cents in a Week
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline increased 17 cents from last week to $4.31 as crude oil prices remain above $100 per barrel. Higher oil costs continue to put upward pressure on pump prices, even as gasoline demand typically declines this time of year. Drivers are now paying prices comparable to those seen in early June.
