The observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues throughout October, and the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition encourages everyone to be careful when consuming information about breast cancer on the internet. The non-profit also urges ladies to get mammograms regularly.
Erin Hernandez, President and CEO, asserts that there is a lot of misleading information regarding breast cancer on the internet. She hopes that the public will get their data from reputable sources.
Mammograms are important, says Hernandez, who adds that those 40 and over should get screened every year. Individuals older than 55 should get a mammogram every two years.
Scholarships are available through the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition to those who need financial assistance with mammograms, states Hernandez.
