Restoration Rome continues to seek new foster homes, as well as volunteers to offer respite care to foster families in the community.
Mary Margaret Mauer, Co-Founder, says that quite a few foster families have chosen to adopt in recent months. That has led to an increased need for more foster homes, especially for teenagers and sibling groups. Concerned citizens that are unable to commit to serving full time as foster parents may volunteer to offer respite to foster families.
Some people become foster families with the intention to eventually adopt, says Mauer. Others plan to only serve as foster families, but they fall in love with their foster kids and decide to adopt.
Restoration Rome, located at 1400 Crane Street, serves as a hub for foster, adoption, and family services. For more information about the non-profit, visit www.restorationrome.org.
On a related note – November will be observed, as it is annually, as National Adoption Month.
The community is invited to a Fall Family Festival at Restoration Rome this Friday, October 30th from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. It will feature music, games, and candy. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best costumes.
