The defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves had a scheduled off-day on Thursday and will be back in action this evening on their home field at Truist Park with the first outing of a three-game National League East set against the Miami Marlins. Kyle Wright will head to the mound for Atlanta, while Trevor Rogers will be the starting pitcher for Miami. The first pitch is slated for 7:20 pm. The Braves completed a seven-game road trip on Wednesday with a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of a three game set out in LA, which allowed the Dodgers to take the series 2-1.
That California road trip began with a stop in San Diego and resulted in three wins and four losses for the Braves, whose record is now 6-8.
This weekend’s series versus the Marlins will be followed by another day off on Monday, which will be followed by a three-game set against the Chicago Cubs at Truist Park next Tuesday through Thursday nights.
In a minor league update, the Rome Braves beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods by 4-2 on Thursday evening in game three of a six-game series up in Bowling Green, KY. Rome now leads that series 2-1. Game four is scheduled for this evening at 7:35 pm.
