BACKYARD BBQ BASH AND DIRT ROAD FESTIVAL SET FOR THIS WEEKEND AT RIDGE FERRY PARK

The Backyard BBQ Bash and Dirt Road Festival are slated for this weekend at Ridge Ferry Park. Festivities will take place both Saturday and Sunday, as indicated by Jim Alred, Recreation Services Manager for Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.

This Spring, Ridge Ferry Park plays host to the Backyard BBQ Bash and Dirt Road Festival. Come out for a must see event featuring barbecue sampling, people’s choice voting, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, car show and more.
The park opens at 10 am and the general public pays $10 to enter and receives a bbq sampling bracelet. Bbq sampling bracelet sales end at 1:30 pm. To ensure you get to sample some great barbecue, make sure to arrive at the park before 1:30 pm on Saturday. After 1:30 pm, entry is $5 until the end of the event on Sunday, May 1.
Registration for the cook off is open now.
Cost: $75
Must provide own meat.
Entry includes four event t-shirts, four team member wrist bands, one 20’x20′ cook site.
*Please note: Teams registering after April 19, may not be guaranteed event t-shirts.*
Judges’ Choice:
1st place in pork – $300
2nd place in pork – $200
3rd place in pork – $100
1st place in chicken – $300
2nd place in chicken – $200
3rd place in chicken – $100
There is one overall winner and it is decided from points combined of judges’ votes for both pork and chicken. Overall winner takes home $500 and pretty cool champions belt.
First, second and third place in People’s Choice Voting takes home trophies and bragging rights.
