ATLANTA BRAVES CLOSE OUT SERIES IN ARIZONA WITH A SHUT-OUT WIN OVER THE DIAMONDBACKS

The Atlanta Braves shut out the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-0 on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game set at Chase Field out in Phoenix, AZ. The D’backs won the series 2-1.

The Braves took an early lead with RBI doubles from William Contreras and Michael Harris II in the top of the first and second innings, respectively. And then Austin Riley made it 5-0 with a three-run homer in the seventh; that was his 13th home run of the season.

Matt Olson took a walk that sent Dansby Swanson home to score another run in the top of the ninth.

Kyle Wright got the win for Atlanta after giving up three hits, walking five, and striking out five over six scoreless innings of work. Madison Bumgarner was charged with the loss for Arizona.

The Braves will continue their current seven-game road trip out west tonight with the first of four outings in Colorado against the Rockies. The first pitch is slated for 8:40 pm Eastern. Listen locally on the airwaves of WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 7:25 pm.
