The Atlanta Braves lost to the Miami Marlins by 10-4 on Monday evening in the first meeting of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park.
The Marlins opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the fourth. The Braves scored three to tie it up in the bottom of that inning on RBI singles by Austin Riley and Mike Yastrzemski, as well as a sac fly from Dominic Smith.
Miami surged ahead with a three-run homer by Augustin Ramirez in the top of the fifth. Riley grounded out to drive in another run for Atlanta during the bottom of that inning. Connor Norby began the sixth with a home run for the Marlins, who scored a total of three in that inning and another in the eighth.
Aaron Bummer was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Andrew Nardi picked up the win for Miami.
The Braves remain atop the NL East with a record of 10-7, while the Marlins are in second place at 9-8. Those teams will meet again tonight at 7:15 pm in Atlanta. Fans may tune into play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6 pm.
