The “Are You Smarter Than A 3rd Grader?” Awareness Fundraiser to benefit the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth will take place this evening at 6 pm at the Rome City Auditorium.
The event is patterned after the TV game show “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?”, but the focus is on students reaching literacy goals by the 3rd grade, says RFCCCY Executive Director Jennifer Jolly. This 4th annual battle of the brains will reveal whether or not adults are smarter than 3rd graders.
When asked if adults are smarter than 3rd graders, contestant Landon Jones of Unity Christian School has a simple answer – no.
Emmarie Griffin, a 3rd grader at East Central Elementary School, agrees. This, she asserts, is because the adults lose the competition every year to the 3rd graders.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children/youth. Jolly encourages the community to visit Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth on Facebook to meet the contestants and find a link to purchase tickets. The tickets may also be purchased at the door.
