Media release from Georgia Highlands College:
Rome, Cartersville, and area residents who want to party like it’s the 80s again have the opportunity to turn back time on May 2.
Georgia Highlands College is hosting a community celebration called “GHC Celebrates: An 80s Prom” on May 2. The highlight of the event will be live music by Guardians of the Jukebox as well as the Waffle House food truck. Taking place in the Cartersville campus gymnasium, located at 5441 GA-20, the event is a chance for the public to take in the college atmosphere and relive some of those great 80s memories while making new ones.
Guests will be surrounded by neon lights, 80s-inspired decor, and fantastic music by Guardians of the Jukebox, who offer a visual and sonic highlight reel from the 80s. Their shows are packed with energy and smash hits including “Electric Avenue,” “Walk Like an Egyptian,” “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Footloose,” “Come on Eileen,” “We Are the Champions,” and of course “Don’t Stop Believing.”
Feel free to dress in 80s looks and go all out with bold colors and big hair. And if all that partying gets you a little hungry, the Waffle House food truck will be on site, serving up some tasty grub.
“We would love to have the community join us for this celebration,” said Kelly Nagel, Director of Development at GHC. “The music is going to be great. Bring your friends and family, come see our Cartersville campus, and have a fun night.”
General admission is $10, admission with Waffle House food is $20, and VIP tickets (admission, food, and VIP area access) are $30.
