The Rome Emperors shut out the Jersey Shore BlueClaws by a final score of 2-0 on Thursday night in the third meeting of a six-game set at AdventHealth Stadium. Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider gave up just one hit, walked two, and struck out three over three and one-third scoreless innings during his Major League rehab assignment in Rome. He was accompanied on the field by Atlanta catcher Sean Murphy.
Gavin Booker, the Voice of the Emperors, says that it rare to have two Major Leaguers in town at the same time for rehab assignments. He adds that this was the kind of night that Minor League broadcasters eagerly anticipate – an opportunity to witness greatness up close and personal.
The Emperors’ current homestand will continue through Sunday. For tickets and more information, visit www.goemperors.com.
