The Atlanta Braves lost to the Miami Marlins by 12-0 on Monday evening in the opener of a four-game National League East set in Miami, FL.
JR Ritchie was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up six runs and six hits, walking one, and striking out four through just four innings of work. Aaron Bummer also surrendered six runs to include a grand slam by Javier Sanoja and a solo home run by Xavier Edwards in the fifth. Max Meyer got the win for Miami.
The NL East-leading Braves now have a record of 32-16, while the fourth-place Marlins are 22-26. Those teams will meet again this afternoon at 4:10 pm down in Miami.
