The official start of Summer is rapidly approaching, and soaring temperatures are the norm at this time of year in Northwest Georgia.
Here are some tips from Dr. Gary Voccio, the Health Director for the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Northwest Health District, to beat the Summer swelter – limit exposure to the hot sun and stay hydrated! Additionally, wear sunscreen to protect yourself from harmful UV rays.
Some other ways to beat the heat include wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothes and avoiding heavy foods.
Summer is a good time for parents to ensure that kids are up-to-date on their vaccines for next school year, according to Dr. Voccio. For information about immunizations and vaccinations, visit www.nwgapublichealth.org.
