FROM PRESS RELEASE:
ROME, GA — Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley proudly celebrated the groundbreaking of its 62nd home for the Cornejo family on Sunday, May 31, 2026. The future home site is located on Brown Street in East Rome.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked an exciting milestone for both the Cornejo family and the organization as construction officially begins on a safe, affordable home that will provide long-term stability and opportunity. This home represents more than just walls and a roof—it is a foundation for strength, security, and hope for generations to come.
The project is especially meaningful as it continues Habitat Coosa Valley’s commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities and investing in neighborhoods where families can thrive. Habitat homes are built through partnerships with volunteers, donors, community organizations, and the future homeowners themselves, utilizing hard work, dedication, and community support.
“Our 62nd home is an exciting step forward for our affiliate and for the Cornejo family,” said Betsy Allgood, Executive Director. “We are grateful for the many volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who make projects like this possible. Together, we are building more than a house—we are building stability, opportunity, and hope in our community.”
Community members, volunteers, and supporters are encouraged to follow the progress of the build and learn more about ways to get involved with Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley.
