The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency will host a Sheltering Workshop on Saturday, June 20th from 10 am until 1 pm at the Emergency Operations Center located at 407 East 12th Street in Rome.
The workshop will be conducted in partnership with the American Red Cross, according to Tim Herrington, Floyd EMA Director. Attendees will be trained on how to open an emergency shelter if one is ever needed locally.
Herrington states that the community has faced emergencies that required the establishment of shelter, such as the recent fire at Winthrop Senior Living.
Locals may check out the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency’s Facebook page to find a link to register in advance for the workshop, which is strongly encouraged.
