The Atlanta Braves opened a six-game road trip out west on Monday night with a loss to the San Diego Padres by 1-0 in game one of a three-game set at Petco Park in San Diego, CA.
Manny Machado drove in the lone run of the night with a homer to begin the bottom of the fourth inning for the Padres.
Grant Holmes was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up one run and three hits, walking five, and striking out four through four and two-third innings of work. Michael King picked up the win and Mason Miller got the save for San Diego.
The National League East-leading Braves are now 48-29 on the 2026 regular season, and the Padres remain in second place of the NL West at 40-37. The teams will meet again tonight at 9:40 pm Eastern. The Braves’ series in San Diego will continue into Wednesday night. They’ll have an off-day Thursday, then play a three-game set in San Francisco versus the Giants over the weekend.
