Many campers have descended upon James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park in Summerville since the beginning of the Summer.
Katy Gramling, Park Manager, says that the number of campsite reservations has picked up as the 4th of July approaches.
Those campers are urged by Gramling to have some sort of cooling device to stay cool during their visits. Consider an A/C in an RV or a fan in a tent.
The attractions at “Sloppy” Floyd include a quiet campground, hiking trails, fishing lakes, boat rentals, and more, according to Gramling.
Gramling says that she looks forward to a host of activities on the 4th of July, including games, stories, and a water battle for campers.
The park has also enjoyed hosting local youth at its Junior Ranger Camp. A session will be held July 16-17 for ages 6-12. A mini camp will be offered to ages 4-5 on July 7-8.
