The Atlanta Braves were narrowly defeated by the New York Mets by a final score of 10-9 on Sunday afternoon in the third outing of a four-game National League East set at Truist Park. The Braves’ lead in the series among division rivals stood at 2-1 upon the conclusion of the weekend.
Drake Baldwin hit a grand slam for Atlanta in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The Braves notched a total of six runs in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback. The Mets began that inning with five runs.
Martin Perez was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up five runs (four earned) and six hits, walking two, and striking out one in four and one-third innings. Nolan McLean was credited with the win and Devin Williams picked up the save for New York.
The start of Sunday’s game was delayed by almost two hours due to rain in the Atlanta area.
