Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries is not slowing down just because it is Summer.
Backpack Buddies, home delivery, and the non-profit’s food pantry continue year-round, says Lindsey Kilby, President. She adds that extra volunteers are needed to make up for manpower lost during the Summer as college students and grandparents take a break.
Donations are always welcome, according to Kilby, who says that Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries relies on churches, private donations, and grants, not the government, for its funding.
Kilby expresses her gratitude to Westminster Presbyterian Church on Shorter Avenue for providing a space for the non-profit’s Drive-Thru Produce Market over the Summer. The market typically takes place at the YMCA’s Grizzard Park, which has been occupied by camps in recent weeks.
Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries’ service area includes Floyd, Polk, and Chattooga Counties. Get more information, register to volunteer, and donate at www.hungerministries.org.
