The Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres by 7-6 on Wednesday night in the third outing of a four game National League set at Truist Park.
The Braves took an early 1-0 lead on a grounder from Michael Harris II that sent Drake Baldwin to home plate during the bottom of the first inning. They held that lead until Jackson Merrill clubbed a solo home run for the Padres to tie the game in the top of the seventh. The Braves surged ahead with six runs in the bottom of the eighth on RBI doubles by Jim Jarvis and Brewer Hicklen and RBI singles from Ozzie Albies, Matt Olson, Austin Riley, and Dominic Smith. The Padres threatened with five runs in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Gavin Sheets, a two-run triple by Fernando Tatis Jr, and two-run homer by Luis Rengifo.
Dylan Lee was credited with the win in relief for Atlanta. Raisel Iglesias got the save. Wandy Peralta took the loss for San Diego.
Wednesday evening’s win allowed the NL East-leading Braves to improve to 59-42 on the 2026 regular season and take a 2-1 lead in their series versus the Padres.
