Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (August 3, 2026) Georgia drivers are getting a little relief at the pump as gas prices start to fall. The decline follows a drop in oil prices as concerns about potential global supply disruptions have eased, lowering the cost of producing gasoline. Georgia’s average gas price is currently $3.87 per gallon (subject to change overnight), providing drivers with some savings as the summer travel season winds down.
“While drivers are beginning to see lower prices at the pump, it’s still a good time to look for ways to save on fuel,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Global events can quickly impact oil and gas prices, and uncertainty surrounding the Middle East remains a factor to watch.”
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 5 cents lower than last week
- 30 cents higher than last month
- 96 cents higher than last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $58.05.
National Average Edges Lower This Week
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline fell to $4.09 this week, but pump prices remain nearly a dollar higher than a year ago. Gas prices often ease in August as summer travel demand begins to decline and families settle back into school and work routines. However, ongoing tensions in the Middle East could put upward pressure on crude oil prices and slow any additional relief at the pump.
