The Atlanta Braves began a six-game homestand with a loss to the New York Mets by 8-5 on Monday evening in the first meeting of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park.
The Mets jumped to an early lead with five runs during the top of the first on an RBI single from Bo Bichette and the first career grand slam by Brett Baty. Mauricio Dubon had a two-run single that got the Braves on the board in the bottom of that inning. The Mets notched a run in the second on an RBI single by Jared Young and another in the third on a home run from Francisco Lindor. The Braves added two in the fourth on RBI singles from Drake Baldwin and Ronald Acuna Jr. Michael Harris II scored their fifth and final run of the night on a wild pitch in the fifth. Young drove in another run for the Mets with a sac fly during the ninth.
Bryce Elder was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up seven runs and 10 hits, walking three, and striking out four through five innings. Daniel Duarte was credited with the win in relief and Kodai Senga got the save for New York.
The NL East-leading Braves are now 71-48 on the 2026 regular season, and the Mets remain in last place of the division at 53-67. Those teams will meet again tonight at 7:15 pm in Atlanta.
