Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (August 17, 2026) Georgia drivers are paying more at the pump this week as rising crude oil prices and uncertainty surrounding the war in the Middle East put upward pressure on gasoline prices. The average price for regular gasoline in Georgia is now $3.79 per gallon (subject to change overnight).
“Georgia drivers are seeing gas prices climb again as global oil markets react to ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. While pump prices remain volatile, drivers can save money by comparing prices and filling up where fuel costs less,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group.
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 3 cents higher than last week
- 7 cents higher than last month
- 88 cents higher than last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $56.85.
Gas Prices Resume Climb Nationwide
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline rose 5 cents this week to $4.06. Crude oil prices have climbed back above $80 per barrel amid ongoing uncertainty near the Strait of Hormuz. Although gasoline demand has softened, higher oil costs continue to keep pump prices elevated.
