Media release from AAA – The Auto Club Group:
ATLANTA (August 24, 2026) The Georgia gas price average continues its upward trend. Ongoing conflict in the Middle East has added pressure to global oil markets, contributing to the increase. The average price for regular gasoline in Georgia is now $3.81 per gallon (subject to change overnight).
“As uncertainty in global energy markets continues, drivers can expect fuel prices to remain sensitive to developments overseas,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “To help offset higher fuel costs, drivers can save money by combining errands into one trip, avoiding aggressive driving, and using the AAA Mobile App to find the lowest gas prices in their area.”
Compared to recent benchmarks:
- 2 cents higher than last week
- 2 cents lower than last month
- 92 cents higher than last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline, the cost is approximately $57.15.
Record-High August Fuel Costs Taking Shape Nationwide
National gas prices moved higher this week, with the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline rising 3 cents to $4.09 (subject to change overnight). Despite softer seasonal demand, elevated crude oil prices above $80 per barrel, fueled by ongoing uncertainty near the Strait of Hormuz, continue to keep pressure on pump prices. As a result, August is on track to be the most expensive August on record for U.S. drivers.
