Media release from AdventHealth Georgia:
AdventHealth Redmond is proud to recognize Alli Beth Surrett as the recipient of the second-quarter 2026 DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, honoring her exceptional clinical care, compassion and commitment to advocating for patients and their families.
Surrett was nominated by a family member following a sudden and stressful change in her great aunt’s health. Throughout the patient’s stay, Surrett provided not only excellent clinical care but also a sense of calm and reassurance during an overwhelming time.
The patient spoke only Spanish, and her family praised Surrett for ensuring she was treated with kindness and respect and felt heard, understood and cared for despite the language barrier.
Surrett’s support continued as the patient prepared to leave the hospital. When an issue arose with a medication not being ready at the pharmacy, Surrett worked closely with the case manager to help ensure it would be available. After the patient left the hospital and encountered an additional communication issue at the pharmacy, the family reached out to Surrett for help. She responded with patience and determination, recognizing the importance of ensuring the patient received her medication promptly.
“In a moment when I felt overwhelmed with stress and worry, Alli’s presence both in person and over the phone brought reassurance,” the family member shared in the nomination. “She felt less like just a nurse and more like family.”
The nominator went on to describe Surrett as an advocate, source of comfort and steady presence during difficult moments, adding that she hopes to one day become the kind of nurse Surrett exemplifies.
“Alli Beth’s compassion and dedication demonstrate the profound impact nurses can have on patients and families, especially during moments of uncertainty,” Trish Price, Chief Nursing Officer. “She took the time to understand this family’s needs, advocate for their care and provide reassurance every step of the way. We are proud to recognize her with the DAISY Award.”
The DAISY Award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to recognize the extraordinary care nurses provide every day. Today, the international program honors nurses whose clinical excellence and compassionate care make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.
AdventHealth Redmond congratulates Alli Beth Surrett on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for extending the healing ministry of Christ through the exceptional care and compassion she provides to patients and families.
