The Atlanta Braves beat the Tampa Bay Rays by 3-1 on Thursday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park. That allowed Atlanta to avoid being swept in the series and snap a three-game losing skid.
The Braves scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI single by Austin Riley and a two-run single from Ha-Seong Kim.
Victor Mesa Jr. hit a solo home run that got the Rays on the board in the top of the ninth.
Didier Fuentes was credited with the win in relief for Atlanta. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Kevin Kelly took the loss for Tampa Bay.
The National League East-leading Braves are now 86-61 on the 2026 regular season. They will host the second place Philadelphia Phillies in a three-game set over the weekend in Atlanta. First pitch of tonight’s series opener is slated for 7:15 pm. That outing will not be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM due to our coverage of high school football.
