The National League East-champion Atlanta Braves wrapped up their 2026 regular season with a loss to the Miami Marlins by 5-3 on Sunday in the last meeting of a three-game division set at Miami, FL. It allowed the Marlins to take the weekend series by 2-1.
The Braves opened the scoring with a solo home run by Mauricio Dubon in the top of the third inning. The Marlins tied the game with a home run by Heriberto Hernandez to begin the bottom of the fourth. They notched three runs during the sixth with a tie-breaking single by Esteury Ruiz and a two-run double from Jared Serna. The Braves notched two runs in the seventh on an RBI ground out from DaShawn Keirsey Jr. and an RBI single by Dubon. Griffin Conine homered for Miami to begin the bottom of that inning.
JR Ritchie was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up four runs and seven hits, walking two, and striking out two over five and two-third innings. Michael Petersen was credited with the win in relief and Sandy Alcantara got the save for Miami.
The Braves ended the 2026 regular season with a record of 94-68. They will begin the MLB postseason on Tuesday afternoon as hosts to the Philadelphia Phillies in Game One of a best-of-three National League Wild Card Series.
