Domestic Violence Awareness Month is observed annually in October. The local observance is led by Hospitality House for Women, Inc., whose mission is to support survivors of domestic violence.
The purpose of DVAM is to let those impacted by domestic violence know that help is available, says Angela Harris, Latin-X Outreach Coordinator. She adds that she looks forward to the 19th annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes on Saturday, October 24th, themed “Paint the Town Purple”.
The walk will originate from the back garden of the Rome-Floyd County Library. Registration will begin at 11 am, and the walk will start at noon.
