James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park in Summerville is poised to welcome leaf peepers in the weeks ahead.
Fall color typically peaks at the park around late October to early November, according to Katy Gramling, Park Manager.
“Sloppy” Floyd is listed among “Hidden Gems” for Fall Color by Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites. Leaf peepers may track Fall colors statewide via Leaf Watch 2026 at www.gastateparks.org.
Fall festivities at the park will include Halloween Hayrides to be hosted by Friends of “Sloppy” Floyd State Park over the last two weekends of October. Gramling says that these will be family-friendly and not scary.
