WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM join the rest of Rome, Georgia in mourning the loss of John Schroeder.
Tributes filled social media upon the passing of Schroeder early on Tuesday after suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. He was co-founder of Schroeder’s New Deli, a downtown restaurant that has been the site of family gatherings, date nights, lunch meetings, and post-game celebrations since 1981. He was also an active member of the community, avid musician, husband, father, and friend.
Schroeder is remembered by the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism for his contributions to local tourism as a founding member of the Hospitality Association. According to a post on the Georgia’s Rome Facebook page, he “cared deeply about our community and was always a strong supporter of helping Rome shine”.
Schroeder is survived by his wife Tracy and their sons Bryan and James.
